1. Nominal APY vs. Real Post-Inflation Yield

A common pitfall in yield farming and staking is prioritizing high nominal APY percentages without factoring in baseline network token inflation. For instance, if a network offers 14% nominal staking rewards but dilutes circulating supply by 10% annually, your real purchasing power expansion is only ~3.6%.

2. Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSTs) & Capital Efficiency

Liquid staking protocols (such as Lido stETH, Rocket Pool rETH, and JitoSOL) allow institutional participants to maintain yield generation while retaining liquidity for DeFi lending and liquidity provision. However, LSTs introduce smart contract and depeg risk that must be modeled into portfolio variance.

How Forex Profit Calculation Works

Every trade on a forex broker platform ends in pips — this calculator converts those pips into dollars. Profit depends on three things: direction, distance, and size.

The profit formula

Profit = Pips Moved × Pip Value × Lots

Example: you go long 2 lots of EUR/USD at 1.0850 and exit at 1.0950 — a 100-pip move. At $10/pip per lot: 100 × $10 × 2 = $2,000 profit. Short the same move and it is a $2,000 loss.

What the calculator leaves out

For net profit, deduct these from the gross figure above — or use our forex margin calculator and pip value calculator to plan the full trade.

Forex Profit Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions

How is forex profit calculated?

Profit = pips moved × pip value × lots. Going long profits when price rises; going short profits when price falls. The calculator above handles the math instantly.

How do I convert pips to dollars?

Multiply pips by the pip value for your pair and lot size. On EUR/USD, 1 standard lot = $10/pip, so 35 pips = $350.

Does the calculator include spread and commission?

No — it shows gross profit. Subtract your broker's spread (typically 1–2 pips on majors) and any commission for the net figure.

What are swap fees?

Interest paid or earned for holding positions overnight, based on the interest-rate differential between the two currencies. Long-term trades must account for cumulative swaps.

Can I lose more than my deposit?

With most regulated retail brokers, no — negative balance protection caps losses at your account balance. Unregulated or professional accounts may differ; check your broker's terms.
